Investigative Lawyer at the Swedish Gambling Authority

Background

The operational department consists of three units and is responsible for licensing, supervision, regulatory development, and environmental analysis within the gambling market. We are now looking for a new colleague for the operational department, primarily for the unit responsible for state-controlled gambling, charitable purposes, land-based commercial gambling, ships in international traffic, and gambling agents. Therefore, we are looking for someone who wants to work as an investigative lawyer with us!

Your Responsibilities

As an investigative lawyer, you will participate in and drive investigations of actors within the gambling market in collaboration with colleagues. You will ensure the quality of decisions and provide legal support within the unit and department on various issues. You will analyze and assess different types of materials and be responsible for, as well as contribute to, ensuring uniform and correct application of the law. You will also be involved in planning and conducting supervision of those who have been licensed to operate gambling for money in Sweden. Additionally, you will serve as a link between the operational department and our legal secretariat.

Your Background and Skills

We are looking for someone with a law degree or a Jur.kand. We seek someone with at least three years of experience in making qualified legal assessments in an operational context, and it is advantageous if you have worked with supervision in public operations. You have an excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and also possess good knowledge of English.

The work requires analytical skills, and you should be able to grasp complex issues and make well-founded decisions based on available materials. You express yourself simply, clearly, and pedagogically. You have a good ability to collaborate with others, and you are helpful, attentive, and take responsibility for ensuring that joint tasks are completed on time. You will work both independently and as part of a team, providing support with your legal expertise.

You take initiative, think innovatively, and take a stand on issues. As a person, you are solution-oriented and see opportunities. You can lead and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and as a colleague, you are secure in your role and can easily collaborate with colleagues and external parties with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Since you will be working with quality, you also need to be meticulous.

Therefore, the Swedish Gambling Authority has an important mission to ensure that the Swedish gambling market is legal, reliable, and safe. We monitor that the gambling companies we have licensed take responsibility for the players and the games they offer. We only grant licenses to those gambling companies that meet the requirements, and we work to keep unlicensed gambling companies away from the Swedish gambling market.

Practical Information

The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period. Before employment, a background check will be conducted according to regulation 1999:1134.
